“Fill it in” can mean several things
Some people use the phrase for partial decommissioning, while others mean complete removal followed by backfilling. Ask for a written method rather than relying on the label.
Start with a site plan
Identify the pool footprint, depths, equipment, nearby structures, access and proposed finished levels. The plan should also show what the reclaimed area will become.
Avoid buried waste
Backfill should not be a convenient way to dispose of unsuitable demolition waste. The quote should state what material is removed, what may be retained and what imported fill will be used.
Think beyond handover day
Settlement, drainage and future disclosure matter after the grass is green. Keep evidence of the method, materials, approvals and any testing.
